Edith gone but never forgotten
Earlier this year Edith, the lady who inspired the original work of Edith's Home, passed away. Edith had been in poor health for some time and died peacefully. Having known Edith for many years we were really sad about this news, however, so thankful for her life and the legacy it has left in our greatly expanded project.
Edith could not speak much English but was still able to communicate clearly with us - she was a real colourful character - funny, strong-willed, hard working and had a willingness to sacrifice the little she had for the children she was caring for. A character founded in a strong personal faith in God.
Personally we will remember her dancing round the guest house kitchen when hosting summer teams and shelling nuts on the veranda of her small home next to the hospital. Edith leaves behind an organisation, inspired by her example which is now impacting more lives that she would have ever imagined - we are so thankful for that.
