You can support the work of Edith's Home with regular financial gifts, which would be spent directly in Uganda on the following projects. Primary School age (£5 per month per child) - orphans are provided with a goat, mattress, mosquito net, medical care, school uniform and equipment and school dinners. Secondary School age (£25 per month per child) - orphans are paired with specific sponsors in the UK, which allows them to go to boarding school. It costs a further £15 per month per child to provide for the everyday practicalities they require at school. Edith's Home has built 2 vocational training centres comprising of 3 classrooms, kitchens, security accommodation, office space and toilet blocks. The project has equipped the centres with all necessary educational resources and is employing full time vocational teachers. Older orphans are encourage to engage in vocational training with the aim of empowering them to be self-sufficient: tailoring, mechanics, carpentry and construction. Courses on starting a small business have been piloted and will be offered as a graduating option. The vocational school costs around £12 per month per student to run. In 2009 our expected turnover is around £50,000 with 96% of this money spent directly in Uganda. The remaining 4% are our UK project costs, and all our UK staff are volunteers. There are many more orphans who need our help. Would you like to become a sponsor of a child, or can you donate to the future of the project?
